The beginning of the movie has a tone that is full of misery and a sense of hermit is felt.However,a man comes out writing a love letter very sensitive man who lives his life by writing personal love letters for other people.His emotions are not those of a typical man...
We note that he is miserable because he is going through a divorce.Divorce taking such a huge toil on his life,Theodore( Joaquin Phoenix) becomes fascinated with a new operating system which reportedly develops into an intuitive and unique entity in its own right.Theodore starts this program and begins to talk to Samantha (Scarlett Johansson) who has a marvelous voice which made him eager to talk to her.Throughout the play we figure out how much just a voice can change the miserable man to be live again and keep smiling for no apparent reason!
Spike shows in this movie how technology has a huge impact in our lives and can be a fulfilling tool in human life.Just like how nowadays people check on their emails every second and can even laugh all by themselves,Theodore has found hope again and a reason to go on and confront his ex wife about the divorce,this is something he had not done in ages because he was weak.This computer system understands him fully and whenever he wants attention he gets which is something he had been longing for.
We also note how Samantha gets emotional yet she is just a computer "...Theodore you said something that hurt me",Spike perhaps was showing us how Theodore and Samantha had grown from friends to love.A bond created,why it sounded so real and also the type of feelings between the two.The type of relationship was that of two normal human beings because she was available and they had sex and more deep was she was always available for him,just exactly what a lonely man wanted.This movie could also be scientific because of the.type of mobile used and designed for the two but also romance.This is done to make the audience stay in suspense and eager to know how these two genres can build something interesting.
